Have you had a look at the IFSEC Video Surveillance Report 2017?

The IFSEC Video Surveillance Report 2017 provides a snapshot of market trends and expectations, the factors that drive procurement decisions, how control rooms use CCTV and the threats and drawbacks.

Below are a few findings we picked out from the report to share with you:

  1. Most CCTV systems are a proprietary (closed) system, this accounts for 56% of systems installed
  2. 48% of security professionals have carried out integration or plan to integrate CCTV with other systems to collate data for business intelligence
  3. Most individuals/businesses have an end to end system oppose to a plug and play, 52% of survey respondents said they had an end to end system
  4. Amongst hundreds of security professionals including building managers, facility managers and more, they were asked which of their building functions they would describe as having a ‘smart functionality’, 67% answered saying CCTV
  5. Despite the General Data Protection Registration (GDPR) coming into force in May 2018, 14% of individuals/businesses with IP systems said they were not concerned about their CCTV systems potential vulnerabilities
  6. Research from cloud based surveillance company Cloudview found that traditional DVR based systems and cloud based systems were vulnerable to malicious breaches
  7. 48% of businesses/individuals are more concerned today about hacking threats than they were 2 years ago
  8. Majority of CCTV owners at 43% had IP CCTV systems over analogue or a mixture of IP and analogue
