Integrated PC Based Access Control by CARDAX
When the people at Cardax decided to employ their world-beating expertise in data encryption and communications networking to create a new concept in access control and security, they had one overriding objective: to create a system so comprehensive it could meet the needs of every potential user, from the single site operator to the global multinational.
Launched in 1979, the Cardax integrated access control and security system has grown and evolved in sophistication, power and user friendliness to become one of the most advanced access control technologies available anywhere in the world today. The Cardax concept is designed to provide you with peace of mind. Cardax alerts you instantly to problems from intruders, fire, plant failure and also has the flexibility to handle the most complex of sites, leaving you to concentrate on the most important priority - running your business. Cardax develops sophisticated computer software systems all of which are extensively tested in-house and in the field. Cardax offers two technology platforms to meet a wide range of customer requirements - Cardax Commander Technology and CardaxFT Technology. Commander technology provides two world proven, robust Cardax access control systems, Command Centre 50 (Windows 95/98/ME) and Command Centre NT (Windows NT).
CardaxFT is the new generation Microsoft Windows 2000 based security system. It integrates access control and alarms management, intruder alarm monitoring, remote digital imaging, intercom and PhotoID badging. CardaxFT can utilise an organisation's existing LAN/WAN and is network friendly, designed to use minimum bandwidth. CardaxFT is a comprehensive Microsoft Windows 2000 based security system. It integrates access control and alarms management, intruder alarm monitoring, intercom communications and PhotoID badging. The system is very flexible, enabling it to meet the needs of small single sites right through to very large global enterprise-wide installations. It is a network friendly system, designed to use minimum bandwidth. The system's communications, which are optionally encrypted using SSL technology, can utilise an organisation's existing LAN or WAN and is Internet compatible. The database component used is determined by the size of the system. Smaller systems use Microsoft MSDE and larger systems use Microsoft SQL (version 7) Server. It is OPC (OLE for Process Control) enabled, facilitating the sharing of selected system information with other OPC enabled process control applications.
The CardaxFT system includes:
- Cardax Command Centre FT
- Cardax FT Controller
- Remote Digital Imaging
- Cardax Readers, including CardaxFT Intelligent Door Terminal with optional Intercom
- A range of CardaxFT Input and Output devices.
Version two of CardaxFT will be released in the fourth quarter this year. This version will incorporate enhanced functionality, including remote digital imaging through the CardaxFT Digital Camera.
Cardax Commander technology offers two Commander systems which provide powerful, integrated access control and alarm monitoring security systems. These proven systems suit a range of applications from small systems all located on single premises; through to large multi site installations. The system's communications are encrypted using DES and are compatible with the Internet and an organisation's LAN/WAN via third party products. Both head-end software systems utilise the same hardware. The central controller is the Cardax
Commander. The Commander controls the field devices (Universal Reader Interface, Scout II or Liftmaster II). Connection is by a screened pair cable connected in either star or delta format, using up to 2000 meters of cable. Smaller systems can use Cardax Command Centre 50 software to control a single Commander and up to 50 field devices. Command Centre 50 operates on Windows 95/98/ME. Up to 3 additional operator terminals may be networked to the Command Centre 50 computer to allow limited functions to be carried out at remote terminals. Large systems can use Cardax Command Centre NT to control up to 40 Commanders and 2000 field devices. Multiple operator terminals may be interfaced to the Command Centre NT server, providing a comprehensive security and access control system.
Cardax also offers Photopass II software, a software program that manages the design and production of photo ID cards. Photopass II integrates easily with Command Centre NT and Command Centre 50.
